Welding and Metalworks Competition

INVITATION TO ALL STUDENTS, EDUCATORS, INDUSTRY PARTNERS, AND WELDING ENTHUSIASTS! The Philippine Welding Society, Inc. (PWS), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST MIRDC), cordially invites you together with your company, and all interested candidates to participate in a friendly welding competition entitled “IPAKITA MO ANG GILAS NG ISANG PINOY Year V”. This is a culminating event during the “2026 Metals and Engineering (M&E) Week celebration on June 15 19, 2026”. PWS MIRDC welding skills competition is scheduled for May 20 21, 2026. The following welding categories are to be administered by PWS. Category 1: Oxy Acetylene Cutting (OAC) CS Plates Category 2: Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) – CS Vessels Category 3: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) SS Pipes: Polished Finish • Registration is open 3 Days before, First come, first served. • Confirmation Acceptance: On or before May 16, 2026. • Participants shall bring their own PPE (safety shoes, jackets, etc.) and other personal tools and things that they may need during the competition date. • PWS shall provide a test coupon to each category (plate and pipe) and sufficient consumables such as welding electrodes etc. • Venue of Competition: MIRDC Advance Welding Training Center (AWTC)/PWS Welding Facilities, MIRDC Compound., Gen. Santos Ave., Bicutan, Taguig City • Announcement of Winners/Awarding of Certificates and Trophies will be on June 17, 2026, 1pm 5pm., MIRDC Compound. Gen. Santos Ave., Bicutan, Taguig City.
