DOST-NCR is actively implementing the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) 4.0, a nationwide initiative designed to assist MSMEs in integrating advanced technologies such as automation, digitalization, and data analytics into their operations. SETUP 4.0 focuses on seven strategic themes—Sustainable Economy, Market Competence, Able Human Capital, Responsive S&T Support Infrastructure, Technology and Innovation, Enterprise Support, and Resiliency and Continuity (SMARTER)—to transform traditional enterprises into smart, innovative, and globally competitive businesses.
In collaboration with the DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC), DOST-NCR has launched training programs aimed at equipping students with skills relevant to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. These programs focus on areas such as robotics, automation, and digital manufacturing, preparing the future workforce for the evolving demands of the industry.
At the national level, DOST has introduced the Cuatro Program to facilitate the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies among businesses. This program emphasizes the integration of automation, big data, and cloud computing to enhance productivity. Additionally, plans are underway to establish a Smart Manufacturing Hub in Metro Manila, which will serve as a center for innovation and technological advancement in manufacturing processes.
